The Halo scanner has a reading range of up to 15 cm. Scanning area 120 cm². The battery can be charged from a USB port on a computer or a USB mains adapter. No batteries needed; rechargeable via USB cable from a laptop or desktop computer (not for Mac / Linux). Ergonomically designed, small, lightweight and solid, and non-intrusive for the animal being scanned. Reads all 15-digit FDX-B and 10-digit FDX-A microchips and EM4102 chips. It will show if a 9-digit encrypted chip is detected. The 15-digit chip is used almost exclusively throughout Europe. Reads thermal chips and will display the temperature from BioTherm temperature-sensing microchips. The entire outer edge is the scanning area, so a large scanning area is covered in one go.
