Support your horse's health – Horses may graze on sparse vegetation, or be fed hay or feed spread on sandy or very dry, dusty ground, leading to sand ingestion and poor gut health. The Sandout pellet formula stimulates digestion to expel excess sand from the gut.

Natural ingredients – This equine supplement contains more than 90% psyllium husk and has a high fibre content. This forms a gel-like compound that stimulates gut muscle movement, helping to move blockages naturally.

Balanced digestive health – For a healthy horse or pony and a balanced diet, a yeast probiotic has been added to the supplement to aid digestion and restore a healthy microbiome affected by sand ingestion.

Horses and ponies that graze on sparse vegetation or are fed hay or feed spread on sandy or very dry, dusty ground can ingest varying amounts of sand. This sand can build up in the gut and cause digestive upsets, negatively affecting normal gut function.

This gel-like psyllium is thought to help stimulate the muscular waves, or peristalsis, that push gut contents along, helping to expel excess sand that may have built up in the gut.

Because of the abrasive nature of sand as it moves through the digestive system, the gut lining may be affected, upsetting the balance of the microbiome ("gut bacteria") that normally adheres to the gut lining. Sandout pellets also contain a probiotic to help restore a healthy microbiome.

Sandout pellets should be fed for 7 consecutive days each month to avoid the gut and microbiome becoming accustomed to the psyllium and using it as a source of soluble fibre rather than as an aid to expelling sand. Feeding for more than 7 days should be discussed with your vet.

Sandout pellets contain more than 90% psyllium husk – from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant. Psyllium husk contains about 70% soluble fibre and is known to absorb water quickly (swelling to ten times its volume), forming a gel-like compound containing glycosides and mucilage.

Technological additives: 1g568 clinoptilolite (clay) 55,000 mg, E282 calcium propionate 2,000 mg.

Zootechnical additives: 4b1710 Saccharomyces cerevisiae MUCL 39885 2.75 x 10¹¹.

Sensory additives: blend of flavouring compounds 2,000 mg.

Composition: psyllium seed husk, soya oil (from genetically modified sources).

Pack size: 2.6 kg provides 4 courses of 7 days.

Directions for use: For a 500 kg horse: 90 g per day mixed into a small feed for 7 consecutive days each month, or as advised by your vet. Do not exceed 90 g per day unless advised by your vet. A 45 g (approx.) scoop is included.

Do not add to wet feed or allow it to absorb moisture, as this will activate the product before it reaches the gut. If you need to add it to soaked feed, we recommend keeping Sandout pellets as dry as possible and adding them just before feeding.
