This AQUAEL product is a special bottom substrate for shrimp tanks. In appearance, the substrate resembles black gravel, with an average grain diameter ranging from 1 to 4 mm. Carefully selected natural components adjust water values suitable for the optimal shrimp level and support a healthy ecosystem - a comprehensive package that creates a good feeling for the plants and animals in your tank!
Correcting water values - how is this done? The natural environment of shrimp shows a carbonate hardness of up to 3°d and a pH value ranging from 5.5 to 6.5. In this ideal habitat, they thrive healthily and show readiness to breed. The advanced shrimp substrate powder contains natural humic acids that are released into the water*; they have a positive effect on the breeding readiness of crustaceans. Plant growth is also stimulated.
A healthy plant environment is important for shrimp; it contains many beneficial filtered bacteria. The substrate also enhances biological filtration in the tank - ideal for establishing beneficial nitrifying bacteria. Since it absorbs toxic elements, it helps maintain a healthy ecosystem while improving water quality; the water also becomes clearer and more transparent.

*The substrate continuously releases nutrients, so it is effective for a long time and allows sustainable application without the need for constant changes or adjustments through additional nutrient applications. Greater sense of security and comfort for the shrimp - crustaceans love darkness and feel safe thanks to the black substrate; their natural shyness disappears, and they become more active! Owners can then repeatedly admire the rich colors of their shells and study their interesting behavior. Additionally: the dark color of the substrate contrasts with the rich colors of the animals, making them stand out more.

Note: The described conditions refer to the most common types of dwarf shrimp of the Caridina cf. cantonensis species, including the highly demanding "Taiwan" category species - for example Panda, King Kong, Red Wine - and many other freshwater shrimp species from the Caridina and Neocaridina genera.
