Prevention of Nausea and Vomiting
For Dogs and Cats
Prevomax is a veterinary medication used in dogs and cats to treat vomiting, in conjunction with other supportive measures, or to prevent vomiting.
Active Ingredient: Maropitant 10mg/ml
Package Size: 20ml multi-use bottle.
Indications for Use:
- To prevent vomiting in dogs and cats, except when induced by motion sickness.
- To treat acute vomiting in cats over 16 weeks of age, and dogs and puppies over 8 weeks of age, in conjunction with other veterinary and supportive measures.
- Helps prevent and treat nausea in dogs and cats.
- To prevent peripheral nausea and vomiting and improve recovery from general anesthesia after using μ-opioid receptor agonist morphine in dogs.
Dosage: Prevomax® should be administered subcutaneously or intravenously once daily at a dose of 1mg per kg of body weight (1ml per 10kg of body weight). Treatment can be repeated for up to 5 consecutive days.
To prevent nausea and vomiting, Prevomax® should be administered more than one hour in advance. The duration of effectiveness is approximately 24 hours, so treatment can be given the night before administering an agent that may cause nausea or vomiting, such as chemotherapy. Injecting the product at refrigerated temperatures may reduce pain at the time of injection.
Storage: Store at a temperature below 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use contents within 56 days of first opening the bottle.
When it comes to maropitant injections, there is less pain for your patient with Prevomax. Prevomax is the first antiemetic to use benzyl alcohol, instead of metacresol, as a preservative known to reduce pain at the injection site. (Watch the video for more information)
