High-performance filter medium specially designed for small aquariums

Sera Siporax Mini Professional has been specially developed for small aquariums with a capacity of up to about 100 liters. It allows for maximum increase in the stability area for purifying bacteria while maintaining a compact shape at the same time. This allows for biological filtration processes even when using small filter units. Water parameters are permanently stabilized, and maintenance effort is reduced.

Filtration and decomposition processes at the bottom of natural waters are very important. Organic waste is processed by microbes and thus becomes available to the natural cycle as nutrients for aquatic plants – where pollutants such as ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate are removed. Since little waste is formed per amount of water in nature, the available bottom space is sufficient to house enough microbes.

However, the aquarium hosts a small habitat in a limited space. Therefore, it is necessary to maximize the stability area to ensure the complete and safe decomposition of organic material residues.

Sera has successfully achieved this perfectly with the unique high-performance filter medium Sera Siporax.

Unlike other filter rings available in the market, Sera Siporax is made from sintered glass. This unique material is convincing due to its special three-dimensional pore structure. This allows for maximum increase in surface area. At the same time, the fine pores provide ideal stability conditions for bacteria that decompose pollutants. Since it is a connected system, the bacteria are continuously washed by water and can thus decompose pollutants as efficiently as possible. Furthermore, the unique pore structure allows for self-cleaning of the substrate and thus very long retention periods for the filter.
