_____________________________________________________________Product Description Ingredients Quaternary ammonium compound and biguanide 0.44g/100g Cypermethrin 0.25%/100g Indications Dermatological conditions of bacterial, fungal, or viral origin in dogs, horses, goats, cattle, sheep, and small exotic species (not intended for use on domestic cats) This topical preparation can be used as a skin treatment where insects are a concern or where fly infestation is likely, such as: - Pyotraumatic dermatitis - Moist eczema ("hot spots") - Ringworm - Malassezia dermatitis - Conditions causing wetting and contamination of fur and skin such as diarrhea, and incontinence Antimicrobial Action The antimicrobial action of this preparation is based on the registered compound F10. The mechanism of action of F10 is derived from the mechanisms of each individual component, as well as those resulting from the additional synergistic effect of all the combined components. At the concentrations present in the product, F10 has been evaluated to provide > reduction in microbial count against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria; fungi, yeasts, and molds; enveloped and non-enveloped viruses; and bacterial and fungal spores. The group of keratinophilic fungi is very large, but only two types, known as dermatophytes, are known to cause diseases ("ringworm") in animals. Insecticidal Action The insecticidal action is based on cypermethrin (a pyrethroid) and is supported by piperonyl butoxide. In testing stages, the indicator species used was Lucilia cuprina, a common type of wound fly. Once the larvae were sprayed, they immediately began migrating from the test site and within 30 minutes were dead. Other tests on L. cuprina eggs showed a 100% kill rate. The product was equally effective against adult flies, showing a 77% kill rate within 15 minutes, increasing to 100% within 30 minutes. Cypermethrin is a broad-spectrum insecticide and is effective against other insects, such as biting flies, fleas, mosquitoes, and ticks. _____________________________________________________________
