Copperamine effectively eliminates Oodinium, Cryptocaryon, Amyloodinium, Ichthyophthirius, and other external parasites of freshwater and saltwater fish. It is superior to copper sulfate, chloride, and citrate: it is non-acidic, less toxic to fish, remains in solution, and does not contaminate the filter pad. It is superior to chelated compounds: it is fully charged (ionic), active at low concentrations, and can be removed using carbon.
Main Features:
- Copper treatment for external parasites
- Active at low concentration (does not precipitate)
- Aminated, so it is not toxic to fish
- Can be 100% removed using carbon or copper sulfur
Instructions:
Before Treatment
Remove all invertebrates - they are very sensitive to copper and will not tolerate treatment with a copper-containing medicine. Turn off UV filters, ozone filters, and remove chemical filtration such as Matrix Carbon and Purigen. Do not use with any other medicine. Do not use any products containing reducing agents (conditioners, ammonia binders, etc.) while using Copperamine.
Treatment
If the bottle has a dropper cap, use 20 drops (1 ml) per 40 liters (10.5 US gallons) on the first day, wait 48 hours, then repeat. In bottles without a dropper, each inner ring equals 1 ml. In freshwater, use half the dose. The final copper concentration is 0.5 mg/liter (0.25 mg/liter in freshwater). Maintain this concentration for 14 days. Do not re-dose without testing. If the tank was previously treated with ionic copper (such as copper chloride, sulfate, or citrate), test the copper level after the initial dose. Although most fish tolerate Copperamine up to 0.8 mg/liter, it is not recommended to exceed 0.6 mg/liter of copper.
Complete the Full Treatment
Ichthyophthirius, velvet, and many other parasites spend a significant part of their life cycle as cysts immune to medicines and hide in the sand of your tank. Remember, you need to complete the full treatment even if you cannot see the parasites on the fish!
After Treatment
Copperamine can be removed using carbon. Leave the copper absorption media in your tank for at least a week after the copper concentration reaches 0 to ensure all traces of the medicine are completely removed.
