Buparvaquone Injection for the Treatment of East Coast Fever
Active Ingredients: Buparvaquone Injection
Package Size: Glass vial with a capacity of 50 ml
Indications for Use: Buparvex is used to treat all forms of parasitic disease in livestock. For the treatment of East Coast Fever (ECF)
Dosage and Administration: 1 ml of Buparvex per 20 kg of body weight (2.5 mg of buparvaquone per kg) injected into the muscles is usually sufficient to treat moderate cases of parasitic disease. More advanced cases may require one or more additional similar injections. They should be administered at intervals of two to three days between injections, as clinically required. Injections should be administered into the neck muscles
as the drug distributes better from this site.
If Buparvex is used to suppress parasitic disease during its incubation period, a single dose of 1 ml per 20 kg of body weight, injected into the neck muscles, is usually sufficient to prevent the appearance of clinical signs.
Warnings and Precautions: Buparvex should only be administered by intramuscular injection. It should not be injected into the vein. Buparvex moves poorly after subcutaneous injection and its therapeutic effect is significantly reduced.
Side Effects: Localized swelling may occur at injection sites but resolves within a few days. Buparvaquone is very safe, so an overdose is unlikely to cause significant side effects.
Withdrawal Period: Milk should not be taken for human consumption from animals treated with Buparvex until at least 48 hours after treatment. Milk from animals treated with Buparvex is safe for consumption by calves. Animals should not be slaughtered for human consumption until at least 42 days after treatment with Buparvex.
Storage: Store between 2° and 25° Celsius. Keep away from light.
