The solenoid valve allows you to stop the CO2 supply in the aquarium when needed - for example, to regulate pH levels or during the night.

Up to 50% of CO2 can be saved by stopping the supply at night since photosynthesis only occurs in daylight when plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. At night or without light, plants consume oxygen, so CO2 enrichment would not be beneficial.

The solenoid valve operates on 230 volts AC and works best when connected to the aquarium lighting timer. This allows the solenoid valve to be turned off simultaneously with the lights.
