EHEIM Phosphate Out
Chemically acting phosphate remover prevents algae growth
EHEIM Phosphate Out is a special iron compound for chemical filtration. The iron binds phosphates, removing them from the water cycle and gradually reducing phosphate levels in the aquarium. This way, algae growth in the aquarium is inhibited.
If phosphate levels and algae growth start to increase, it means the filtration media is exhausted and needs to be replaced.
EHEIM Phosphate Out is available for external filters in granule form and for internal filters as a foam filter cartridge. It is free from harmful substances and suitable for fresh and saltwater.

EHEIM Phosphate Out for internal filters Aquaball and Biopower
Depending on the type, chemical filtration media control the pH value and water hardness (peat) – or reduce phosphate levels and prevent algae growth (Phosphate Out).
The pH value of tap water ranges between 7.3 and 7.8, making it slightly alkaline. However, most ornamental fish require acidic water – meaning a pH value below 7.0. EHEIM Torf granules reduce the pH value and decrease water hardness.
Phosphates occur mainly due to organic pollutants in aquarium water (fish remains, fish excrement, etc.) and are responsible for algae growth. EHEIM Phosphate Out binds phosphates and removes them from the water cycle.
For the internal filters Aquaball and Biopower, special foam cartridges are available instead of granules. They are impregnated with an iron compound that binds phosphates. If phosphate levels in the water start to rise, it means the cartridge is exhausted and needs to be replaced.
