Follow the formula-to-water ratio as directed by your avian veterinarian according to your bird's age. Do not use a microwave. Allow it to cool to a warm temperature. Young with open eyes should be fed 3-4 times daily, and birds showing feathers, 2-3 times daily. Step 3: Feeding with a syringe is likely the most successful technique overall. When facing the bird, position the syringe to enter the mouth from the left side of the bird's beak and direct it toward the right side of the bird's neck. Place the food in the bird's mouth, and when it swallows, the bird naturally responds by closing the trachea, preventing the formula from being inhaled into the lungs. Step 4: Feed the bird until its crop is full but not overfilled, and clean any excess formula from the bird's beak, feathers, and surroundings.
