Comprehensive Nutritional Support Formula for Sick or Injured Birds

For birds that require an easily absorbable nutrient source. For patients undergoing medical or surgical treatment and recovering from incidental failure. Also used as a hand-feeding diet for growing insect-eating young birds from hatching to fledging, which have a clear deficiency in digesting corn starch. Feeding Instructions

Warning: Proper feeding technique must be used to avoid injuring the bird or inhaling the formula, which could lead to pneumonia or death.

Directions:

• Step 1: Gently feel the crop to ensure it is nearly empty before feeding.
• Step 2: Mix fresh: one part dry formula to 1-3 parts bottled "drink" water heated to approximately 103°F (39°C). Do not use a microwave. Allow it to cool to warm.
• Step 3: Tube feeding is generally the most successful technique. While facing the bird, insert the tube into the oral cavity from the left side of the bird's beak and direct it towards the right side of the bird's neck. Place the food in the bird's crop.
• Step 4: Feed the bird until the crop is full but not completely emptied, and clean any formula residue from the bird's beak, feathers, and surroundings. Repeat as needed to maintain or increase the bird's body weight.

Other Animals

The recovery formula can be fed to any animals needing an easily absorbable nutrient source, whether post-surgery or as part of a general rehabilitation process.

• Step 1: Mix fresh: one part dry formula to 2-3 parts warm water (approximately 39°C/103°F), or to the desired consistency. Do not use a microwave. Allow it to cool to warm.
• Step 2: Tube feed or spoon feed using the warm formula based on veterinary recommendations.
• Step 3: Repeat feeding as necessary to maintain or increase the animal's body weight. Recovery is a low-fiber, easily digestible diet, so frequent feeding may be necessary.
