Use this diet when transitioning a bird from its old diet to Roudybush. Continue feeding adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding chicks. Lories and lorikeets will experience drier droppings when accepting this diet compared to their nectar-based diet. If you have a bird that lays eggs chronically or a bird prone to developing calcium deficiency (such as African Grey Parrots), mix two-thirds of the maintenance diet with one-third of the high-energy breeding diet to provide them with more calcium and vitamin D.₃Do not provide additional vitamin or mineral supplements. Rewards can be offered from fresh fruits and vegetables as a small part of the diet.
