Horses and ponies grazing on sparse vegetation or given hay or feed spread on sandy or very dry and dusty soil can ingest varying amounts of sand. This sand can accumulate in the intestines and cause digestive disturbances, negatively affecting the normal function of the intestines.

This psyllium gel is believed to help stimulate muscular waves or peristalsis that push intestinal contents along, aiding in the expulsion of excess sand that may have accumulated in the intestines.

Due to the abrasive nature of sand as it moves through the digestive system, the intestinal lining may be affected, disrupting the balance of the vital microbiome ("gut bacteria") that typically adheres to the intestinal lining. Sandout pellets also contain probiotics to help restore a healthy microbiome.

Sandout pellets should be fed for 7 consecutive days each Month to avoid the intestines and microbiome becoming accustomed to psyllium, using it as a source of soluble fiber rather than as an aid to expel sand. Feeding for more than 7 days should be discussed with your veterinarian.

Sandout pellets contain over 90% psyllium husks – from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant. Psyllium husks contain about 70% soluble fiber and are known to absorb water quickly (expanding tenfold) and form a gel compound containing glycosides and mucilage.

Technological additives: 1g 568 clinoptilolite (clay) 55,000 mg, E282 calcium propionate 2,000 mg.

Animal additives: 4b1710 Saccharomyces cerevisiae MUCL 39885 2.75 x 10¹¹.

Sensory additives: blend of flavor compounds 2,000 mg.

Composition: psyllium seed husks, soybean oil (from genetically modified sources).

Usage instructions: For a 500 kg horse: 90g daily, mixed into a small feed for 7 consecutive days each Month or as advised by your veterinarian. Do not exceed 90g daily unless advised by your veterinarian. A 45g (approx.) measure is included.

Do not add to wet Food or allow it to absorb moisture as this will activate the product before reaching the intestines. If you need to add it to soaked feed, we recommend keeping Sandout pellets as dry as possible and adding them directly before feeding.
