Probiotics are no longer just found in yogurt or as dietary supplements for humans - they have also taken their rightful place in ornamental fish nutrition. Since 2016, the intestinal flora Fixative Bacillus velezensis (formerly B. subtilis) has been approved for use in ornamental fish nutrition, and is explicitly recommended by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to improve growth and Food utilization.
Sera was the first manufacturer to react quickly in 2016 and launched an innovative probiotic koi Food: "Koi Probiotic All Seasons". As part of the rebranding of the Sera brand, the name was changed to "Koi Professional Probiotic".
Koi Professional Probiotic is suitable for year-round nutrition for koi fish in water temperatures above 8°C. The double-formed pellets - in addition to the natural and functional ingredients that have become standard in Sera, such as MOS, beta-glucans, Haematococcus algae, and spirulina, etc. - contain the probiotic Bacillus velezensis, which stabilizes the intestinal flora of the fish. This enhances their health and improves Food utilization. Koi fish grow quickly and evenly, and the water is less polluted with toxic fish waste products and promotes algae growth. To benefit from these positive effects year-round, the special Food should replace the appropriate seasonal Food several times a week throughout the year (in water temperatures above 8°C). Of course, it is also suitable as a main Food.
Koi Professional Line
With the Koi Professional line, Sera offers premium Food types for koi fish that take into account the needs of cold-blooded animals during different seasons (spring and autumn, summer, winter). Additionally, there are two functional Foods, Koi Professional Color and Probiotic, which can be fed year-round. Koi Professional Junior was specifically developed to meet the nutritional needs of young koi fish.
