The original Sera Siporax Professional product is suitable for use in both freshwater and marine aquariums as well as in ponds. Regardless of the type of filter (internal/external/flow-through filter), it maximizes the surface required for biological purification and provides the optimal substrate for the stability of bacteria necessary for filtration.

Filtration and decomposition processes at the bottom of natural waters are very important. Organic waste is processed by microorganisms and thus becomes available to the natural cycle as food for aquatic plants – where pollutants such as ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate are removed. Since little waste is generated per amount of water in nature, the existing surface at the bottom is sufficient to accommodate a sufficient number of microorganisms.

However, an aquarium contains a small habitat in a small space. Therefore, it is essential to maximize the stability area to ensure the complete and safe decomposition of organic material residues.

Unlike other filter rings available on the market, Sera Siporax is made from sintered glass. This unique material is convincing due to its special three-dimensional pore structure. This allows for maximum surface area. At the same time, the fine pores provide ideal stability conditions for bacteria that break down pollutants. Since it is an interconnected system, the bacteria are permanently rinsed by water and can thus decompose pollutants with maximum efficiency.
