Carbonate hardness (KH) is one of the least important parameters in aquarium water.

Most fish kept in a freshwater aquarium prefer relatively harder water. Additionally, KH acts as a buffer preventing dangerous fluctuations in pH values (including sharp increases in acidity).

For all community aquariums, the rule is to maintain a minimum KH of 6°dkH (significantly higher in special cases like African cichlids). This ensures the well-being of the fish and that the aquarium water is resistant to loads and easy to maintain.

Sera KH/pH-plus will accurately and long-term increase the KH to the desired level. The pH value will gently increase, and most importantly, it remains safely stable.
