Use this diet when transitioning your bird from its old diet to Roudybush. Continue feeding adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding chicks. Lories and lorikeets will accept this diet, and their droppings will be drier than when consuming nectar. If you have a bird that lays eggs chronically or a bird prone to developing calcium deficiency (such as African Grey parrots), mix two-thirds of the maintenance diet with one-third of the high-energy breeding diet to provide the bird with more calcium and vitamin D._٣Do not provide additional vitamin or mineral supplements. Fresh fruit and vegetable treats can be given as a small part of the diet.
