ParaGuard is the only safe product for fish and filtration systems of the aldehyde type (10% by weight) to control parasites (for fish parasites). Unlike formalin-based medicines that are highly toxic and difficult to use, ParaGuard does not contain formaldehyde or methanol and will not alter the pH level.

Main Features:

  • Eliminates external parasites, fungal, bacterial, and viral infestations
  • Safer to administer than formaldehyde, formalin, and methanol
  • Will not adversely affect the biological filtration system

Instructions:
Dosage
Remove all invertebrates from the aquarium as well as any chemical filtration. Use 5 ml (one capful) of ParaGuard for every 40 liters (10 US gallons). Repeat this dosage daily as needed as long as the fish do not show signs of stress.

ParaGuard can also be used as a medicinal bath. For one-hour baths, use 3 ml per 4 liters (1 US gallon) in a container separate from your main aquarium. Baths can be extended if the fish show no signs of stress. Keep in mind that many diseases remain in the water as well as on the fish. There is no benefit in giving the fish a bath treatment if it returns directly to contaminated water.

Quarantine
This is a tank set up to monitor and treat new fish before they enter the main aquarium. ParaGuard is gentle enough for preventive use (without visible symptoms) if necessary. Quarantine periods vary, but we generally recommend a two-week treatment with ParaGuard to eliminate any potential external infections.

Sensitive Fish
Some fish are more sensitive to medicines than others. Eels, bass, rays, sharks, and many other species are known for their sensitivity to various types of medicines. If you suspect your fish may be sensitive to medicines, it is okay to start with a partial dose and increase it to the full dose over several days.
