The lamp contains two rows of diodes with a total power of 10 watts (2×5 watts) or 16 watts (2×8 watts). Half of them are sunlight diodes that emit light similar to sunlight (color temperature 7000 Kelvin), and the other half are plant diodes specially developed to meet the needs of plants (color temperature 9000 Kelvin). The LED Slim Duo Sun Plant and Night LED lamp operates in three modes: Day (Sun 100% + Plant 100%), Sunrise (Sun 50% + Plant 50% + Night 100%) and Night (Night 100%). Day is the main and strongest light for aquarium illumination during the day. Sunrise works well as the first mode after night and when feeding fish – especially if you have shy fish. Night is a blue glow that allows a unique view of the aquarium after dark, including fish and nocturnal animals. The Day and Night lighting will beautifully highlight the arrangement in the aquarium both during the day and at night, and will also make the interior design more comfortable. The operating mode Day / Sunrise / Night changes after turning off the unit and turning it on again within no more than 5 seconds. It switches directly to Day mode after turning off the unit for more than 5 seconds and turning it on again. It is best to automate this process using the modern Duo Socket controller for aquariums.

An open aquarium is a great option for people looking for modern and designed solutions in aquariums. It is especially preferred by enthusiasts of styles such as Dutch, Japanese, or natural biotopes. Thanks to its natural appearance, the open aquarium can become an attractive element in interior design and attract guests' attention. It also ensures better air humidity in the room, which is especially beneficial for people with respiratory diseases.
Open aquariums are tanks without a lighting cover. In this case, lighting is used mounted on beams or hanging lamps. Lamps are often used for mounting on the side edges or on the back wall of the aquarium. The latter are intended for small capacity "nano" aquariums.
Why do we light the aquarium?
There are usually two reasons. First and foremost, the aquarium should look beautiful, i.e., natural. The lighting should make the fish and plants appear in beautiful colors appropriate to their type, and all of this should be an indisputable decoration for the room. The second goal is no less important – the vast majority of fish keepers want to have healthy plants that grow well in their aquarium. Plants need light to grow for 10-12 hours a day, which is the "driver" of photosynthesis – a natural process by which inorganic compounds are converted into organic materials necessary for their life. Therefore, properly selected light will also ensure that the aquarium looks good and that plants grow well in it.
How much light does the aquarium need?
How much light does the aquarium need? It depends on the types of plants we intend to grow there. In terms of light requirements, they can be divided into three groups:
Group One – species that tolerate shade, such as "Blyxa," algae, Microsorum pteropus, spiral moss, some plants (such as Aponogeton folia, Wendt group, Packet group, Malawi group), Anubias.
Group Two – species that like moderate light, such as spherical algae, waterweed, water rose, tiger lotus, Ludwigia, broadleaf waterweed, three-flowered waterweed, frogbit, broadleaf arrowhead, Argentine water grass, giant water grass, compact, lemonophyll, small-leaf Bacopa, Thai marimo, Ponicillo, Japanese Blyxa, spearleaf.
Group Three – species that love strong light, such as Cabomba, "Glossostigma," Hemianthus.
Usually, the conversion of lighting power to liters of aquarium water is used. It is commonly accepted that for LED plant growth lamps for shade-tolerant plants, at least 0.15-0.2 watts per liter of water is necessary. Medium-demand plants need 0.25-0.4 watts/l, and those that love strong light need up to 0.5-0.7 watts/l.
"Day" in the aquarium can fall at almost any time of the day. If the aquarium is away from windows and lit only by artificial light, the times for turning the lighting on and off can be almost any time. It is simply best to set them according to our preferences and the hours we usually spend in the apartment (such as "dawn" at 3 pm and "dusk" at 1 am). After that, we can enjoy the beauty of a "piece of the underwater world" in well-lit places.
