These high-performance skimmers that hang on the edge of the aquarium feature a simple design but achieve a very important task in your tank. Each protein skimmer comes equipped with a submersible needle pump, using needle wheel technology to produce the best bubbles. The surface tension created by these bubbles attracts organic waste and carries it through the column; then it is "skimmed" into the collection cup for removal. All our protein skimmers come with a Venturi pump equipped with a needle wheel. This type of pump introduces air through the Venturi tube, and when water is drawn through the needle wheel impeller, it cuts the incoming bubbles into a fine mist. This results in better skimmer performance. Please ensure that the skimmer's drain pipes are fully submerged to ensure the unit operates correctly. The water level should not be below the maximum depth from the edge mentioned below. Suitable for use in a water tank (as a hang-on device).
