Catalyst Alb Albumin (12)

Single strips for testing and monitoring albumin levels. They can be added with other chemical strips to create a unique custom panel that suits the patient's needs. Main reasons for conducting the test: to investigate causes of hypoalbuminemia: protein-losing nephropathy, protein-losing enteropathy, as well as liver failure (decreased production) and decreased absorption due to malabsorption (gastrointestinal diseases) or malnutrition. Additionally, they are useful in determining the degree of dehydration with increased serum albumin concentrations and often decrease with active inflammatory diseases (negative acute phase reactants). The test should not be conducted separately due to its lack of specificity.
