EHEIM pHcontrol+e device – the smart controller for monitoring and resetting the pH value in your aquarium
With the EHEIM pHcontrol+e device, you can easily monitor and improve the pH level in your aquarium via your smartphone, tablet, or PC/Mac simply through your WiFi connection and web browser. The pH sensor measures the current pH value of the water, and the pHcontrol+e device automatically provides the necessary CO2 supply. By controlling the solenoid valve connected in sequence with the CO2 system, it adds the required amount of CO2 until the desired pH value is reached.
To achieve this, you must connect your CO2 system, i.e., CO2 bottle via a pressure reducer in addition to the solenoid valve (see EHEIM CO2 sets) and CO2 diffuser. The pHcontrol+e device has day/night control and can be linked with the EHEIM LEDcontrol+e lighting control system (see EHEIM DIGITAL family).
In addition to light, nitrogen, phosphate, and trace elements, plants in your aquarium primarily need CO2 as an important nutrient. The better the plants thrive, the more oxygen they release, which fish need for breathing. Thus, the EHEIM pHcontrol+e device indirectly provides the optimal oxygen and pH value for your fish through CO2 addition. This value is usually between pH 6 and pH 8; where pH 7 is considered a neutral reference value.
Note:
The basis for measuring and stabilizing the pH value is the carbonate hardness ("KH") of the water. Therefore, the EHEIM pHcontrol+e device (in smart mode) queries the KH value initially. Because KH, CO2, and pH value affect each other.
