• Vitamin E has many functions in animals, but its main function is to protect cells from oxidative damage – it enhances the protection of cell membranes and the detoxification of pollutants that occur in cell metabolism.
• It is also involved in cell respiration and thus plays a very important role in energy metabolism. Vitamin E supplementation has also been shown to improve animal fertility (particularly sperm quality in males and egg fertility in females) and increase fetal survival and viability in young animals.
• In addition, it promotes the formation of antibodies and has a positive effect on the immune state of the body. Vitamin E deficiency can cause decreased fertility, sexual drive and hatchability.
• Finally, vitamin E deficiency leads to weakening of muscles (white muscle disease) and especially heart function.
