Use this diet when transitioning your bird from the old diet to Roudybush. Continue feeding adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding chicks. Lories and lorikeets that accept this diet will produce drier droppings than when consuming nectar. If you have a bird that lays eggs chronically or a bird prone to developing calcium deficiency (such as African grey parrots), mix two-thirds Maintenance with one-third High-Energy Breeder to provide more calcium and vitamin D.₃Do not give additional vitamin or mineral supplements. Fresh fruit and vegetable treats can be offered as a small part of the diet.
