Proper nutrition is essential for enhancing the beautiful colors of koi. An adequate amount of spirulina microalgae in the feed supports color saturation and enhancement and clearly separates color areas. White surfaces appear clearly without an undesirable yellow tint.

Spirulina contains more than 50% protein content and includes all essential amino acids as well as many unsaturated fatty acids. Additionally, the algae contain a number of vitamins and minerals. For example, astaxanthin enhances colors, especially in red areas. Astaxanthin is a vitamin-like pigment that strengthens the immune system, acts as an antioxidant, and supports fertility. Only the naturally high bioavailability version of astaxanthin is used in Sera feed. Sera primarily uses Haematococcus algae as a source (60.5 mg of astaxanthin per kg of feed). However, ingredients like krill and spirulina also contribute to the supply of astaxanthin and other important pigments.

Koi Professional Color food consists of two components: a feeding ring and a feeding core. This is achieved through the use of a special co-extrusion manufacturing process that allows the combination of differently processed ingredients. The ring contains high-quality natural ingredients such as spirulina and Haematococcus, which ensure unique colors and appropriate nutrition. The core contains, among other things, essential vitamins, minerals, and trace elements for healthy growth and a strong immune system.

The colored feed can be offered year-round at a water temperature above 8°C.
