Fleas:

Dogs and other warm-blooded animals are particularly susceptible to flea infestations in warm climates or during summer months when temperatures and humidity are high. Dogs can catch fleas from their furry friends or the surrounding environment. Fleas use their strong hind legs to jump onto the "host" (your dog) and then bite the animal. These bites can cause itching, hair loss, hot spots due to scratching, and skin infections. You may also notice small dirt-like particles on your pet - which are actually flea droppings and digested blood.

Female fleas can live for a few weeks on your pet and may lay between 20-30 eggs daily during that period. Some eggs will hatch into larvae on your pet, while others fall into the home environment - where they feed on skin flakes and other organic material. Pet owners should treat both the dog and the indoor and outdoor home environments. • Before bathing, build trust. Let your pet see and smell grooming tools, brushes, towels, and the shampoo bottle, and let them hear the sound of running water.

Follow the instructions on the product packaging carefully. When applying the shampoo to the animal, avoid contact with the eyes. Use a cloth or sponge to apply the shampoo around the animal's eyes. Wear rubber gloves when using this product. Wet the coat thoroughly with warm water then apply enough shampoo to create a lather and work it well into the coat. For maximum parasite control, leave the lather in contact with the skin for five to ten minutes before rinsing. Do not reapply the product for 7 days. Do not use on cats. Do not use on puppies under 12 weeks old.
