Hot Spots and Irritated Skin:
Pet owners should pay close attention to environmental, dietary, and situational conditions that irritate their animal's skin such as: allergies, fleas, tick bites, matted/thick/dirty fur, sunburn, wet dogs, or anal sac disease. These conditions can cause your animal to chew, lick, bite, or scratch those areas - sometimes - to no avail, which can become very painful and dangerous for your animal. Sometimes chewing can be Paid by boredom. Hot spots and infections can occur quickly after the pet starts itching, biting, or licking those affected areas - leading to the development of painful, red, and moist lesions. These lesions are known as hot spots, also known as acute moist dermatitis, and should be treated immediately.
Tips for Preventing Hot Spots:
- Groom your dog regularly and keep the hair trimmed short.
- Use flea and tick control products recommended by your veterinarian.
- Keep your animal active and healthy. Provide a good diet, plenty of exercise, and playtime to prevent boredom.
- Dry your animal thoroughly after bathing, and clean and dry them after swimming in the lake or ocean.
It is important to identify the underlying cause of the problem, so you should consult your veterinarian if hot spots become a persistent issue. Between your veterinary visits, the Pet Care Collection for Hot Spots and Itching provides hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid to control itching and inflammation while lidocaine, a pain reliever, reduces pain.
Description:
Lidocaine and hydrocortisone reduce itching, redness, and swelling. Colloidal oatmeal and aloe vera provide soothing and moisturizing comfort. Formulated with lactic acid to help enhance the penetration of healing and soothing ingredients. pH balanced.
For maximum comfort, use Pet Care Conditioner for Hot Spots and Itching. Use Pet Care Spray for Hot Spots and Itching between baths to relieve symptoms and help speed healing. For topical use only on dogs and cats.
