Veterinary Formula Flea & Tick Shampoo contains three times the active ingredients compared to competing brands. It is a shampoo designed for cats and dogs, formulated with pyrethrum, a natural insecticide, to kill and control fleas and ticks on contact, relieve irritations caused by flea and tick bites, while gently cleaning and exfoliating your animal's skin and fur.

Size: 475 ml

Fleas:

Dogs and other warm-blooded animals are particularly susceptible to flea infestations in climates with warm weather or during the summer months when temperatures and humidity are high. Dogs can catch fleas from their other furry friends or from the surrounding environment. Fleas use their strong hind legs to jump onto the "host" (your dog) and then bite the animal. These bites can cause itching, hair loss, hot spots from scratching, inflamed lesions, and even skin infections. You may also notice small dirt-like particles on your pet - which are flea droppings and digested blood.

Female fleas can live for several weeks on your pet and may lay between 20 to 30 eggs per day during this period. Some of the eggs will hatch into larvae on your pet, while others fall into your home environment - where they feed on skin flakes and other organic materials. Pet parents should treat the dog as well as the indoor and outdoor environment of the home. We recommend using Veterinary Formula Flea & Tick Shampoo in conjunction with Richard's Organic Flea Treatment - made with 100% natural boric acid.

Ticks:

Ticks are parasitic insects that attach to warm hosts, such as your dog. Ticks are commonly found in wooded areas, tall grass, and plants. Dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors are prone to encountering a tick at any time. When this happens, the tick can attach and lock its mouth in a crevice or fold and begin feeding on blood - sometimes feeding for days. In addition to being annoying, ticks cause significant concern for animals and people alike due to the high risk of transmitting diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, or babesiosis. Tick bites can also cause anemia, joint swelling, fever, and paralysis. If your pet shows any signs of illness, and you suspect a tick bite, consult your veterinarian immediately. Always check your pet for ticks if they have been running outside, especially in wooded areas.
