What it is
Metrobactin is an antibiotic tablet (metronidazole 250 mg) for dogs and cats.
When to use it
- Diarrhoea or a gut infection diagnosed by the vet as caused by Giardia or Clostridia
- Urinary or genital tract infection
- Infection of the mouth or throat
- Skin infection caused by anaerobic bacteria
How to use it
Dose: 50 mg per kg body weight a day, which can be split into 25 mg/kg twice a day · Method: by mouth · Duration: 5-7 days · Store below 30°C; use split tablets within 3 days.
How much is in the pack
The pack holds 100 tablets; a 10 kg dog needs 2 tablets a day (1 tablet twice a day), so the pack covers about 50 treatment days, or about 7 courses of 7 days.
