What it is
GastroGard is an oral paste containing omeprazole for treating stomach ulcers in horses.
When to use it
- Your horse has a stomach ulcer
- To stop stomach ulcers from coming back after treatment
- For horses and foals aged 4 weeks and over
How to use it
Dose: for treatment 4 mg omeprazole per kg (each weight mark on the plunger covers 114 kg); for prevention each mark covers 227 kg · Method: by mouth
Safety in pregnant or lactating mares has not been established.
How much is in the pack
Each syringe contains 2.28 g omeprazole and gives one treatment dose for a horse of up to 568 kg — that is 1 treatment dose for a 450 kg horse, or about 2 prevention doses.
