Highly effective active filter carbon - especially after Medicines treatment

EHEIM AKTIV is acid-washed and activated for automatic water absorption (active surface 1200 m²/g). Therefore, this activated carbon quickly binds to chemical pollutants such as pesticides, residues of Medicines, and other substances and stores them in large quantities. The aquarium water becomes crystal clear. It is especially important to use it after treating aquarium inhabitants with Medicines.

EHEIM AKTIV should only be used for a limited period (about 4 weeks) and then removed or replaced.

In the layered structure of the filter, EHEIM AKTIV is used directly after the mechanical filter block (such as EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and biological (such as SUBSTRATpro) in the provided mesh bag.

Absorptive Filter Media

Absorption means accumulation (as opposed to absorption). Absorptive filter media are materials that remove harmful substances from the water and accumulate or bind them. This includes chlorine from tap water, residues of Medicines or traces of cleaning agents, pesticides, dyes, and others.

Tip:

Use absorptive filter media for only a few weeks. Since harmful substances only adhere, they can dissolve again after a period and return to the water. At the very least, regular replacement is necessary. Typically, absorptive filtration is only necessary during the initial operation period of the aquarium or after using Medicines.
