Uses: A year-round complete formula for all medium to large parrots, especially African Greys, Cockatoos, Large Conures, Eclectus, Macaws, and Pionus. Other species can transition to the adult formula after a 6-month conversion period. Conversion: All birds should start on the high potency formula for at least 6 months.

Special needs: For birds that are molting, overweight, underweight, particularly active, living in a cold climate, recovering from illness, or affected by liver or kidney disease.

Weaning birds: Should be fed the high potency formula for at least 6-9 months. Breeding birds: Should be fed the high potency formula 1-2 months before the breeding period and until the young are weaned or for at least six months before returning to the adult formula. Additional certified organic vegetables and fruits can be increased until the young are weaned. For every 2 tablespoons (20 grams) of formula, add ½ tablespoon (5 grams) of certified organic peanuts or almonds and 1 tablespoon (10 grams) of certified organic sunflower seeds.

Storage: Harrison's bird foods contain no artificial preservatives. Once opened, they should be consumed within 8 weeks. Storing food in the refrigerator or freezer helps maintain freshness.

Feeding directions: Feed fresh food daily - do not "top off." To help reduce waste, feed food as distinct meals. Birds can eat as much as they want, but use the Menu below as a guide.

  • Pionus: 10 - 15 grams (1 - 1.5 tablespoons) of high potency, ½ - 1 teaspoon additional foods
  • Amazon / Eclectus: 15 - 30 grams (1.5 - 3 tablespoons) of high potency, 1 - 2 teaspoons additional foods
  • African Grey Parrot: 15 - 30 grams (1.5 - 3 tablespoons) of high potency, 1.5 - 2 teaspoons additional foods
  • Cockatoo: 15 - 50 grams (1.5 - 5 tablespoons) of high potency, 2 - 3 teaspoons additional foods
  • Macaw: 20 - 50 grams (2 - 6 tablespoons) of high potency, 2 - 4 teaspoons additional foods
  • Toucan: 50 - 150 grams (5 - 15 tablespoons) of high potency, 3 - 9 tablespoons additional foods
  • Flamingo: 100 - 300 grams (10 - 30 tablespoons) of high potency, 2 - 4 teaspoons additional foods

Supplementary feeding: Harrison's products should make up 75-80% of your bird's diet. It is recommended that 15-20% of the overall diet consists of high-quality vegetables and fruits, preferably organic. Dark yellow or dark leafy green items such as sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango, or papaya are most beneficial. It is recommended that 5% of the overall diet consists of high-quality items, preferably organic, that provide a rich source of Omega 3. Examples include chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or some nuts. Refer to this article for more information on the reasons and benefits of including these items.

Adding vitamins or other supplementary products for birds or animals is not recommended.

[For birds suspected of having iron storage disease: Avoid citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, and other foods containing Vitamin C. Avoid grapes, raisins, liver, red meats, egg yolks, or dark leafy vegetables like spinach, which may contain high levels of iron.]
