Use this diet when transitioning your bird from its old diet to Roudybush. Continue feeding adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding chicks. Lories and lorikeets will experience drier droppings when accepting this diet compared to their nectar-based diet. If you have a bird that lays eggs chronically or a bird prone to developing calcium deficiency (such as African parrots), mix 2/3 of Maintenance food with 1/3 of Breeder High-Energy food to provide more calcium and Vitamin D3. Do not give additional vitamin or mineral supplements. Fresh fruit and vegetable treats can be offered as a small part of the diet.
