UV-C Antiseptic for Freshwater, Seawater, and Lakes

Sera UV-C systems are universally applicable and highly effective. They are suitable for use in fish ponds or aquariums.

UV-C radiation is not present on Earth; it comes exclusively from space. Therefore, during the process of evolution, no living organisms have been able to adapt to this harsh radiation, whether they are pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungi), parasites, or reproductive stages of filamentous algae. This is where UV-C systems are effective, as they improve the condition and health of aquarium animals when used during the filtration process. Bacterial water cloudiness and green water in ponds are effectively suppressed.

Within these systems, the flowing water is exposed to UV-C radiation for a short period. The unit is equipped with a lamp that emits UV-C, which is protected by a high-quality glass tube around which the water flows. Water enters through a hose connector and exits through another on the opposite side. The variable adapter allows for the connection of hoses with different diameters. The particularly effective PL UV-C lamp is easy to replace. The end pieces with hose connectors are rotatable and allow for the shortest possible hose connection.

The systems are available in different capacities according to your needs (see overview). They are connected to a suitable powerful pump by a hose. UV-C systems are primarily equipped with energy-saving lamps and a gently operating electronic ballast.

Recommended flow rates:

In aquariums 1000 – 2000 liters/hour

In ponds 2000 – 4000 liters/hour

The UV-C system cannot operate without a pump. Neither the aquarium inhabitants nor the nitrifying bacteria settled in the filter are exposed to any threat from ultraviolet radiation. A suitable pump must be chosen for the recommended flow rates.
