VETSORB PGA 2‑0 TAPER POINT PK12S 26MM
The VETSORB PGA 2‑0 Taper Point PK12S 26 mm surgical suture is a product for veterinary use made from polyglycolic acid (PGA), an absorbable synthetic material. The suture is braided and coated with a blend of polycaprolactone and calcium stearate to enhance its smoothness within tissues and reduce friction. It is also dyed purple with D&C Violet No. 2 for easy visibility during procedures. Absorption begins with a gradual loss of tensile strength, followed by mass loss, and is usually complete within 75 to 90 days post-implantation.

Main Benefits

Absorbable synthetic material for veterinary use
Coated for easy handling and reduced tissue friction
Low tissue reaction and limited capillarity
Excellent tensile strength retention during the early wound healing phase
Purple dye enhances visibility during placement

Composition

Braided polyglycolic acid (100%) suture
Coating: Polycaprolactone and calcium stearate
Dyed with D&C Violet No. 2

Note

Absorption profile: Retains about 80% of tensile strength after 14 days; loses 90% of strength by the end of the fourth week; minimal mass absorption after two weeks, about 25% after 4 weeks, about 75% after two months, and nearly complete between 75–90 days.
