Before use, pierce the nipple using one of the following methods:

Cut off the nipple with a razor blade. Using a sturdy needle or cuticle scissors, go in and out of the tip of the nipple as if you were making very small stitches or with scissors, pull the needle out to remove a small piece of the nipple. Check the flow with water. A steady drip or gentle flow should be achieved with light pressure on the nipple. If one or more animals are sick, use a different bottle or feed a sick animal last. Wash the bottle, cap and nipple in hot, soapy water and rinse thoroughly after each feeding session. If the animal is too young or weak to suckle, consult your veterinarian
