Cupramine effectively eliminates Odinium, Cryptocarion, Amylodinium, Ichthyophthirius, and other ectoparasites of both freshwater and marine fish. It is superior to copper sulphate, chloride, and citrate: it is non-acidic, less toxic to fish, remains in solution, and does not contaminate the filter bed. It is superior to chelates: it is fully charged (ionic), active at low concentrations, and decarboxylated.

Key Features:

  • Copper treatment for external parasites
  • Active at low concentration (does not precipitate)
  • Amine bound so it is not toxic to fish
  • 100% removable using carbon or copressorb

Instructions:
Before treatment,
Remove all invertebrates - they are very sensitive to copper and will not tolerate treatment with a copper-containing medication. Turn off UV filters, ozone filters and remove chemical filtration such as MatrixCarbon and Purigen. Do not use in conjunction with any other medication. Do not use any products containing reducing agents (conditioners, ammonia binders, etc.) while using Cupramin.

treatment
If the bottle has a dropper cap, use 20 drops (1 ml) per 40 liters (10.5 US gal) on the first day, wait 48 hours, then repeat. In caps without a dropper, each inner ring is 1 ml. In fresh water use half dose. The final copper concentration is 0.5 mg/L (0.25 mg/L in fresh water). Leave this concentration for 14 days. Do not repeat the dose without testing. If the tank has been treated with ionic copper (such as copper chloride, sulfate, or citrate), test the copper level after initial dosing. Although most fish can tolerate a cupramine dose of up to 0.8 mg/L, it is not recommended to exceed 0.6 mg/L copper.

Complete the full treatment
For spot, velvet, and many other parasites that spend a large portion of their life cycle as a Medicines resistant cyst hiding in the substrate of your tank. Remember that you need to finish the full treatment even if you cannot see the parasites on the fish!

After processing
Cupramine can be removed using carbon. Leave the copper absorbing media in the tank for at least a week after the copper concentration reaches zero to ensure that all traces of the drug are completely removed.
