What is rabies?
Rabies is a virus that affects the central nervous system of mammals. It is usually transmitted when an infected animal bites another animal or human. The virus starts at the site of the bite and travels through the body along the nerves until it reaches the brain. Once rabies reaches the brain, the infected animal will begin to show symptoms and usually die within 7 days
What should you do if a dog, cat, or other animal bites you?
First, you must disinfect the bite site well with water, then go immediately to the hospital and receive the rabies serum before 24 hours pass to protect you and prevent the virus from spreading.
