White and red, what's the difference

What is the difference between white eggs and brown (red) eggs???

Usually, chickens produce eggs in two colors, white and brown

But is there a nutritional difference between them?

What causes the difference in crust color in the first place?

These questions were recently asked by New York Times journalist C. Claiborne Ray to Cornell University scholar Trophy Boy for the answers.

Simply put, there is no noticeable difference in nutritional value. Brown eggs tend to have a lot of omega-3 fatty acids, but the difference is very small

There is also no difference in yolk or taste

As for the color of the shell

Genes determine the color of the shell.. Dr. Bowie said: chickens with white feathers and white earlobes lay white eggs, and red or brown chickens with red earlobes lay brown eggs.

But there are more colors. The Ameraucana breed, also known as the Easter egg hen, lays eggs with a blue shell. The quality of the shell does not vary in different breeds. Although younger chickens lay eggs with harder shells

Some people think that brown eggs are better because they are more caloric

The chicken that lays brown eggs is larger in size and costs more for its food and upbringing, which is more expensive than white chicken. So white eggs are more cost efficient. However, the type of feed can affect the nutritional content of the eggs as well as the color of the yolk
